parkrun is a weekly 5k community run/walk event for people of all ages and athletic abilities. Students will have a range of volunteer opportunities, such as marshalling, setting up, timekeeping and tail walker.

Volunteering at parkrun is an opportunity for students to get outside, make new friends, have fun, learn new skills and to be a valuable part of your local community. parkrun is always looking for new volunteers. Students make sure the event is set up and packed away each week. Students could be organising the finish funnel, operating the timer, or scanning barcodes, there is something for everyone.

These events take place most Saturday mornings with three event locations close to the College, these are Sherwood Reserve in Browns Bay, Hobsonville Point and Metro Park in Millwater. This is a chance to learn new skills, contribute back to your local community and be part of this global event.

Students will have to register with parkrun prior to attending the event and parental consent is required. For experiences undertaken outside of school, in the wider community such as parkrun, student welfare/wellbeing is the responsibility of the Parent/Caregiver. Students must inform Parents/Caregivers of the experiences being undertaken, including those in the wider local community such as parkrun. Student safety and well-being is always paramount. Activities such as parkrun, organised by an outside provider and not the school, must be discussed with Parents/Guardians to ensure they are comfortable with their child participating in the activity.
