The Jazz programme at Rangitoto College consists of numerous bands and combos and is designed to cater for students with very basic improvisation skills all the way through to those who are considering tertiary studies in Jazz.
We have an expert team of staff who direct and coach these ensembles, ensuring students are mentored by performers who are active, accomplished and well regarded in the field.
Students in the Jazz programme have numerous opportunities to perform each year, including school concerts and ceremonies, regional and national competitions, and local community events. Our Jazz Club evening, held annually on the last Sunday in May, showcases the entire Jazz programme and accomplished alumni artists, and definitely one of the highlights of the school calendar.
