We provide access to cultural knowledge, activities, inspiring role models, and dedicated academic support and mentoring.
Our Māori and Pacific support staff lead a range of initiatives designed to uplift and empower our students. These include cultural events, leadership and committee groups, engaging activities, career and academic workshops, pastoral care, and mentoring. Additionally, we provide school-wide professional development for teachers, fostering high expectations through culturally responsive pedagogy.
Our school offers a leadership and cultural engagement program through Tū Rangatira and Pacific Tutor Classes.
Tū Rangatira is a Year 10–13 tutor class program led by four dedicated teachers who support the daily practice of tikanga and mātauranga Māori. This class focuses on building confidence in tikanga and connecting students with Māori cultural experiences through a variety of kaupapa, including events and activities.
The Pacific class is a combined Year 11–13 class that fosters cultural connections while providing academic support and mentoring. Students are strongly supported by two dedicated teachers—one focused on academic support and the other on creating cultural opportunities for our Pacific students.
