The New Zealand education system is modern and innovative, preparing students for life in a fast-paced global economy. Our highly qualified teachers, a strong curriculum and outstanding facilities combine to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment. Teachers challenge students to participate actively in classes, working both individually and collaboratively with other students. A range of assessment methods are used (examinations, assignments, practical assessments, group work and presentations) to allow for different types of intelligence and students are always encouraged to ask questions and think creatively, so they learn critical thinking, not just knowledge.
In recent years our graduates have won scholarships to all New Zealand universities and a large number of prestigious universities abroad, including Yale University, Princeton University, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Imperial College, the University of California (Berkeley), Washington State University, the University of Kentucky, the University of Hawaii, Lafayette College, the university of Canberra and the University of Melbourne.
Rangitoto students have competed post graduate studies at M.I.T, Harvard Medical School, Cornell University and New York State University. Some of our ex-students are currently teaching at Ivy League schools in the UK and USA, while others have gone on to become top businessmen, doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists, researchers, diplomats, interpreters, sportsmen, environmentalists, musicians, politicians, pilots and computer programmers.
