BACK

As we look forward to our third annual Pīpīwharauroa Festival, we acknowledge the purpose of this celebration is to uplift Mātauranga Māori at Rangitoto College.  This is our 3rd year in the cycle, where the previous festivals have highlighted the Mātauranga Māori our kaiako have embedded into their curriculum areas.

This year we celebrate the return of the Pīpīwharauroa bird back to the islands. As the Pīpīwharauroa leaves our beautiful country we’ll have a twilight festival to celebrate the Māori knowledge we have learnt over the years and our continued commitment to develop our understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori within our curriculum. Toi tū te Tiriti o Waitangi!

The theme of this year’s festival is whakapapa,
He kakano ahau i ruia mai i Rangiatea.
I will never be lost, for I am a seed grown in Rangiātea.

We will be celebrating Mātauranga Māori through cultural performances, artworks, whakairo, food trucks, kākahu, jewellery stalls, face paint and more!  It takes place on our Top Field from 4:30pm to 8:30pm.
