Rangitoto College has proven exceedingly helpful in allowing me to achieve academic successes thanks to the helpful assistance of the learning support team. I have been encouraged to utilise the supplied support since year 9, where I primarily used extra time, however, it was only really during year 10 that I fully began to take advantage of the support available, in part due to my increased familiarity with the school and how things were run. Despite my initial reluctance to fully utilise the support, the learning support staff were very welcoming, and the booking system was easy to understand and engage with, even more so these days now that it is done online, factors that contributed to my full adoption of support in year 10.

My full embrace of support in year 10 has allowed me to flourish academically, achieving an NCEA Level 1 excellence endorsement in year 11, thanks to the assistance of a writer, and has helped me realise my academic potential and attempt to seize it. It has even allowed me to feel able to decide to do the International Baccalaureate instead of doing NCEA over years 12 and 13. Thanks to the friendly assistance of the learning support team I am achieving far more than was anticipated back when I was in primary school, even despite my disability and subsequent difficulties when it comes to my learning.

Overall, the abundant support, and special assessment conditions available at Rangitoto College have greatly helped me in my academic journey and allowed me to flourish academically and made me feel welcome.

Rangitoto College has given me excellent opportunities and amazing support throughout my learning journey, which has helped me to be able to achieve great success over the past three years. Rangitoto College’s student support has amazing values which include an environment that has given me amazing opportunities to be able to succeed in my subjects and sports.

Over my time at Rangitoto College, I have had the opportunity to play football every year. I enjoy the challenge of improving my skills and being able to meet new people throughout the football community. Last year, I applied to be a tour guide for Year 8 students. I was proud to represent the school and share my experiences at the school.

As a Year 12 student, I am on track to achieve my academic goal of gaining Merit Endorsements. The Learning Support staff have guided me throughout my learning journey by giving me special assessment conditions that mean I can complete assessments to the best of my ability, despite my learning disability.

Once I have completed high school, I plan to study tourism and communications at university. I know the Learning Centre will continue to guide me to reach my university entrance qualification. I have enjoyed my time here at Rangitoto College because I have met a lot of different people who have helped me along the way.
