Our Year 12 Geography students participated in a field study of altitudinal zonation in Tongariro National Park.

On their first day, they collected data on vegetation changes at Silica Rapids. The following day, students undertook the 19km Tongariro Crossing, one of New Zealand’s Great Walks, to further analyse how plant life varies with altitude.

Our Geography students were lucky enough to enjoy beautiful weather and stunning views across the national park. This remains to be a highlight for our Year 12 cohort and a tradition Rangitoto College continues throughout the years.
