Rangitoto College is proud to partner with Te Hōnonga a Iwi and the Rosedale Restoration Project as part of our commitment to kaitiakitanga. This initiative provides students with hands-on opportunities to restore native ecosystems while developing patience, respect, and perseverance. Through working bee events, including tree planting, weeding, and seedling transportation, students gain a deeper understanding of conservation and its vital role in protecting Aotearoa’s native flora.

Throughout Term 1, Rangitoto College students have dedicated their weekends to restoration efforts, removing invasive plants, planting native species like flax, and enjoying delicious home baking! These events foster a strong sense of community, connecting students with like-minded peers. Whether you’re looking for a rewarding day outdoors or hoping to complete service hours for your student profile, Te Hōnonga a Iwi offers an unforgettable experience.

Beyond restoration, students have also taken on leadership roles in pest control at Rosedale Park, working alongside the Upper Waitematā Ecology Network. Over the past two years, we’ve removed 70 pests, helping to safeguard native birds, insects, and plants. This hands-on work has reinforced valuable problem-solving skills and highlighted the power of small actions in conservation.

If you’re passionate about the environment and want to make a real difference, join us! Every effort counts—whether it’s planting, weeding, or pest control. Email coordinator@restoringrosedalepark.org.nz to get involved.

Together, we can protect our environment for future generations!
