Once again Rangitoto College started the year, gaining outstanding results at the Beach Volleyball National championships.
For the third year in a row, our senior girls are national champions taking out the gold! The team of Devyn Golaboski and Jasmine Rugg dominated the competition, by playing exceptional beach volleyball and tactically outwitting their opponents. Their finesse on the sand was appreciated by their whānau and spectators supporting them.
Joschua Schaller and Kenai Stevenson gained a silver medal in the senior boy’s division. They played some excellent volleyball, keeping the crowd cheering with their winning hits, tricky ball placement and agility on the court.
In the year 11 girls’ competition, Zaria Ruby and Kyra O’Shannessey played a hard-fought final to gain a silver medal, through their active defence and leaving everything on the sand. Sienna Hickling-Crane and Molly Caunce won a bronze medal in the same competition, by dominating their opponents with clever shots and fantastic serving.
We are grateful to our coaches Adam Watson and Johann Timmer for supporting all of our players through multiple training sessions over the summer and at the matches. Thanks also to Alan Kerr, Sharon Redpath and Sam Bell for all they do behind the scenes.
