Rangitoto College’s Junior Girls Water Polo team came through victorious in the Year 9/10 North Island Water Polo Cup in a thrilling final. The team displayed exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the tournament, overcoming strong competition to secure the championship title against dominant water polo schools including Diocesan and St Cuthberts.
There were some standout performances from players who demonstrated excellent skill but the overall teamwork was crucial in claiming the title. Emily Armes was named Most Valuable Goalkeeper of the tournament making some incredible saves during the gold medal match. She even added to the scoreboard with a fantastic full-pool goal which gave her team a boost heading into the final quarter. Rose Tindall was awarded the Most Valuable Player award with some fantastic work on offence to score for her team. She was a dangerous asset to the team and certainly dominated the St Cuthberts defence in the final.
This victory marks a significant achievement for the Rangitoto Junior Girls Water Polo programme and further solidifies the school’s reputation in competitive water polo. The team’s success is sure to inspire future success heading into 2025.
