Rangitoto College made a strong showing at the 2024 Junior 3×3 Northern Cup, held recently at Trusts Arena in Henderson, with three teams competing across multiple grades.
In the highly competitive Junior Boys Premier grade, players Carter Chase, Antonio Malak, Dylan Waters, Eghosa Omozee, and Caleb Stuart delivered an impressive performance. They battled through tough opposition, including two thrilling victories over Rosmini College, to secure 9th place in the tournament.
The Junior Boys Open grade team had Joel Edmonds, Luke Smit, Kevin Wu, Adrian Trajkov, and Michael Oliff. They showed a lot of resilience, mana, and determination over the three days. Their campaign was capped by a 19-11 triumph over Manurewa College, a team they had narrowly lost to earlier in the tournament. The win was fuelled by a stunning six two-pointers from Joel Edmonds, helping them finish 15th out of 23 teams.
In the Junior Girls Premier grade, Zoe Magiera, Moananui Wynyard, Kalais Moller, and Eva Healey demonstrated grit and skill, earning a commendable 6th place. Competing against teams featuring New Zealand U15 representatives, the girls held their own, showcasing their potential in a fiercely challenging grade.
A big thank-you goes out to coaches Nathan Hanna, Clinton Buckley, and Graeme MacDonald for their dedication and guidance throughout the tournament. Their support has been invaluable to the players and the wider basketball programme. Thank you
Well done to all involved. You have made Rangitoto proud!
