Junior Tournament Week - Volleyball

Rangitoto College had an outstanding performance at the 2024 Auckland Junior Volleyball Championships, held from November 13 to 15 at the Bruce Pulman Arena. The college proudly fielded four teams—two girls’ teams and two boys’ teams—each showcasing impressive skills and teamwork throughout the tournament.

Championship Achievements.

Both the Junior A Girls and Boys teams emerged victorious, each securing gold medals in their respective divisions. Their success was marked by strong communication, strategic plays, and resilience in high-pressure situations. The girls’ teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork and adaptability, while the boys showcased powerful serves and solid defense, leading them to dominate their matches.

North Island Championships Results

Following their success at the Auckland Championships, Rangitoto College continued to shine at the North Island Junior Championships from November 19 to 22. The girls’ team finished with a silver medal, while the boys’ team secured a bronze medal. These results highlight the depth of talent within Rangitoto College and its commitment to developing young athletes in volleyball.

With four teams competing, Rangitoto College’s strong volleyball program is evident, fostering a competitive spirit and camaraderie among its students. The achievements at both the Auckland and North Island championships underscore the college’s reputation as a powerhouse in junior volleyball, setting a high standard for future competitions.

Rangitoto College Shines at NISS Beach Volleyball Junior Championships

Rangitoto College’s beach volleyball teams delivered an impressive performance at the recent NISS Beach Volleyball Junior Championships held on the 23rd November at the North Harbour Beach Centre, securing multiple medal positions across different age divisions. 

We had two teams who took part in the Year 9 Girls division who played off for 3rd and 4th place. Emma Shan and Claire Hartwig demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork, clinching a bronze medal. Their achievement highlights the emerging talent within the younger age group of the college’s volleyball program.

Both Year 10 girls teams were equally impressive on the sand with Zaria Ruby and Kyra O’Shanessey taking home the bronze medal in their competitive category. Their performance showcased the depth of volleyball talent at Rangitoto College.

The college’s male representation was equally strong, with friends Jayden Kim and James Kim making a remarkable run in the Year 9 Boys competition. The pair fought their way to a silver medal, underlining the school’s competitive spirit and volleyball prowess.

These results not only demonstrate the individual skills of the players but also reflect the robust sports training and support system at Rangitoto College. The athletes’ success serves as an inspiration to their peers and represents the school with distinction in inter-school sporting competitions.
