2024 has been an amazing year with students having the opportunity to participate in work experience placements, take part in group and individual courses, and attend inspiring presentations from industry leaders.
To start off Term 4 our Year 12 Gateway and Year 13 Pathways to Employment students (plus their parents/caregivers) had a special breakfast at the Rangi Centre to celebrate our 2024 programme. The class teachers, careers team, and senior school staff also attended.
The morning was also an opportunity to publicly acknowledge the wonderful contribution of the local employers who provide workplace experience placements and mentorship for our students. These placements took place across a wide range of industries including education, construction, real estate, personal training, plumbing, boat building, and many more.
There were nine students who were employed full-time (and one part-time) from their work experience placement this year, so a great result and it just shows, if you have the right attitude, it gets noticed!
A special shout out to our amazing class award winners who have all put in an outstanding amount of effort and impressed us with their work ethic both in class and on work experience placement:
- Nathan Carr
- Michael Woolf
- Lara Deacon
- Ethan Symons
We hope that the Gateway/Pathways to Employment experience has empowered our students to be inspired about their future and enabled them to make informed decisions about their prospective career pathways. We wish them well on their journey.
However, we need your help! If your business may be able to help out by offering a work experience workplace for one of our students, please get in touch with melissa.lowe@rangitoto.school.nz. Work experience is for one day a week for five weeks at no cost to the employer.
