Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS)

Rangitoto College students excel in crafting CAS Portfolios as part of their IB Core, encompassing a range of in-school and community activities. These experiences, often reliant on student volunteerism, not only boost university applications but also cultivate the IB Learner Profile traits, including risk-taking and skill development. Rangitoto College enhances this with Activity, Creative, and Service Days.

For their Creative Day, students chose to engage in a variety of activities, such as musical practice and writing of musical scores, calligraphy, graphic design, painting, creative writing, baking, computer graphics, D&D club, and many more. Some of the cohort worked together as a team and built their own unique projects, while others focused on their individual creative pursuits.

Service Day will take place in week 10 with students, where students participate in a range of service activities around school.

IB Students’ Wider Achievements

2024 Success

The number of students deciding to undertake an IB Diploma pathway continues to grow at Rangitoto, a testament to the success of the programme.  In 2024 Bilingual Diplomas also continue to grow with students studying Literature in 12 different languages.

IB Classes

We also continue to be impressed with our students who choose to self study Literature in their mother tongue. Recently, we’ve had students undertake courses in Arabic, Dutch, German, Korean, Russian, Macedonian, Portuguese, Italian, and Malay. These alongside our already wide language offering of Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, and English B.

The two images below are of IB Language B at Rangitoto College—students learn at beginners, SL, or HL levels depending on incoming knowledge and of the IB May examinations (Languages not offered in November).  This year: Malay Literature and Macedonian Literature. Dutch B and Korean B.

Congratulations on your stunning results!

Good Luck!

Year 13 IB students are busy studying hard for their upcoming exams starting in week two of Term 4.  We know they will do well. Good luck to you all!
