2024 was a huge year for the Rangitoto College Fashion Show, with our talented textiles students taking centre stage. Not only did they design incredible garments, but Juni Lee and her team took over organising the entire event, transforming it into the must-see showcase of the year.
We had amazing support from sponsors like New World, Drapers Fabric, and Burger Fuel, who filled the goodie bags, while Snap Click captured fun photo booth moments with friends and family.
Year 9 students impressed with their screen-printed pepeha T-shirts and separately created heat-pressed hoodies. The Year 10 cohort dazzled with wearable art for the Eye on Nature competition and expertly tailored track pants. Year 11 showcased upcycled sustainability projects, while Year 12 focused on Zero Waste designs, and Year 13 finished with stunning Kowhaiwhai-inspired shoulder bags.
It was not just textiles students strutting their stuff—students from all over the school joined in as models. Food Tech baked goodies, and the Engineering and Construction students showed off furniture and even a motorbike. We even had former students who came back to help backstage.
Textiles at Rangitoto is where creativity, sustainability, and fun meet. If you want to make something amazing, this is the subject for you!
