BACKOn Wednesday 20th March, our Special Olympics Athletics Team walked to the AUT Millennium Athletics Track for the first Special Olympics Event of 2024.
Our students engaged in three field events: mini javelin, shot put, and long jump. They also took turns competing and cheering their teammates in the track events. These included the 50m wheelchair race as well as 50m walking race. The day culminated in the 4 x 100m relay.
The students gathered an impressive hall of certificates over the course of the day reflecting their efforts and enjoyment. We returned to Rangitoto College, tired, but having had a wonderful day.
