DanceNZmade Regional Competition

DanceNZmade took place at the Due Drop Events Centre, which saw many Auckland dancers and schools participate. Our dancers had a fantastic day in workshops learning from industry professionals to competing in the evening.

Magnum Junior Troupe
Melody Ullrich, our student captain, had worked very hard on creating an upbeat, grungy, rock-styled jazz routine that displays the dancer’s talent. This piece titled Misery Business was first premiered at our Dance Showcase and DanceNZmade, where they received second runner-up in the 9-10 Division.

Magnum Senior Troupe
The creative process was led by Sophia Snelgrove and Summer Hawkins, who took out first place in the 11-13 Division and was first runner-up overall at DanceNZmade. Summer and Sophia also received a choreography award for their work on this piece.

Magnum Company
The piece titled ‘52’ is based around the 52-card suit and how each card represents something different and in order to be a character you must be prepared to lose. Magnum Company did an outstanding job and were the sole recipient of the director’s award and direct entry into the nationals competition.

Hip Hop Mega Crew
Rounding out the competition season with DanceNZmade, where our Mega Crew competed in a very full Open Section and brought the energy with a crowd-pleasing set to finish out the competition. They came first runner-up in the Open Division and second runner-up overall.
