TOI
Toi is run in collaboration with World of WearableArt (WOW) and is an opportunity for the next generation of textile artists and designers to get a taste for the WOW experience. Toi is te reo Māori for art, and our Toi competition challenges students to take art off the wall and put it on the human form. Students work solo or in groups to create a fantastical wearable art garment. You have the opportunity to exhibit your creations at our Showquest regional event, where we have a Wearable Art Showcase. Our team will take professional photos of your garment at the event worn by student models, and our friends at WOW judge the garments nationally. If you cannot make it to an event, students can take their own photos to submit for national judging.
Showquest
Led by a student production team and crew, students put in hours of planning and rehearsals to create memorable performances that communicate a range of ideas to leave the audience thinking about them long after the end of the night. Each year, students involved in Showquest push themselves harder and harder to produce some astounding displays of skill and creativity, showing just how diverse and talented our students are at Rangitoto College. Showquest is always a night to remember, and the hard work and dedication of our students is something to be applauded.
The requirements for Showquest TOI is for the students to create a wearable art piece and enter it into the Showquest TOI Competition. In the past it has mostly been senior students that have been involved in this, but it is open to Year 9 and Year 10 students.
