Rangitoto College has students working through achieving their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Pike Ake (Rise Up) is a group of Rangitoto College students focussed on self improvement and contribution to the wider community. Students involved in the programme are currently supported through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award and we are very lucky to be fully funded thanks to The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Aotearoa New Zealand.

With the school’s help, students learn leadership and teamwork skills, and find a new skill in which to excel. In the past, we have had students work on NZSL (sign language), as well as participating in tramps across New Zealand’s beautiful landscape. Students are also encouraged to give back to the community in a range of different ways, such as volunteering their time or participating in community service opportunities. Duke of Edinburgh allows students to engage in a variety of activities both within and outside of school, and develop skills that will help them throughout their lives.

Piki Ake (Rise Up) is a group of young men from Rangitoto College focused on self-improvement and contribution to the wider community. In 2022, students involved scaled the Pinnacles, Coromandel, and trekked up their Maunga on Rangitoto Island and across to Motutapu Island.
