Our library is a dynamic environment with exceptional services and collections that empower students’ learning and encourage reading for pleasure

The library is the heart of the school and a place where our students and staff can find reading and information resources. It’s a quiet space and a social space where everyone is welcome. We are open from 8 am to 5 pm every school day. Our borrowing policy is ‘All you can carry’ and our librarians love to help with reading and research needs.

Services and Collections

Our four trained librarians, supported by 70 student librarians, are here to help students find the perfect book to read or to locate the research resources they require for their learning needs.  The library catalogue includes research guides and reading lists as well as a search function.  To find the library login, go to the school Spider page, go to the Quicklinks drop down menu, and click the library catalogue link.

Our print collection (20,000 titles) provides a broad range of fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and different language resources (including Te Reo, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French and Japanese) to support students’ learning and recreational needs. We also provide a large e-book and audiobook platform for those interested in reading digital titles (also accessed via the Quicklinks drop down menu).

MidBays Kāhui Ako Literacy Resources

The MidBays Kāhui Ako Literacy Steering group have produced a whānau guide to reading at home.  This was put together using research about how best to encourage children to read at home and how families may support this.

It is available to read in English, Korean and Mandarin. Huge thanks to Emily Chang, Andrew Bian and Regina Noh at Rangitoto College for translating it.

The school’s library is a place full of warmth, friendliness and help wherever you look; I love it so much!

I have worked for nine years at Rangitoto College, firstly as a Librarian and now as the Library Manager. I have always been an avid reader and I want to pass that love of reading onto others, be they students or staff. In today’s world, navigating the information environment can be intimidating and time consuming, so teaching students how to find and effectively use information is imperative. I want our students to become effective and efficient users of information so they can excel in their time at Rangitoto College and beyond. My mission is to help them achieve this goal.
