Our school offers a vibrant hockey program designed for players of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned, competitive athletes.
We are thrilled to continue the leadership of Thornton McDade as our Director of Hockey. With a wealth of international experience in both playing and coaching, and a deep passion for the game, Thornton is committed to advancing our hockey program to new heights. His vision focuses on developing our athletes’ skills while enriching their overall experience.
Thornton is dedicated to fostering a strong, inclusive community among players, coaches, managers, volunteers, and the wider hockey whānau.
In 2024, we proudly fielded 3 competitive boys’ teams and 5 girls’ teams across the Harbour Hockey and College Sport Auckland divisions. Our 1st XI boys and girls teams are led by two highly accomplished coaches, with former Black Stick Jan Peterson at the helm of the boys’ team and Thornton McDade overseeing the girls’ team from mid-2024. The girls’ team competes in the Premier Auckland Secondary Schools competition, while our other teams participate in the Harbour Hockey competition.
Our school also has a rich history of hosting high-profile events, including two international test matches between New Zealand and Korea. Additionally, both the Black Sticks men’s and women’s teams have chosen our top-tier turf for their training sessions, further cementing our school’s place as a leader in hockey.
