On 21 March, the Rangitoto College Siva Group received an invitation to perform at Takapuna Primary School to conclude their cultural week celebrations.
We were very honored for this invitation and were really excited for this performance. It was an amazing opportunity to promote our Siva group along with Samoan culture to our younger generations. The children were incredibly adorable and really invested in the performance which made it such a pleasure to perform for them.
As Siva Samoa is a graceful, traditional Samoan dance promoting stories and traditions passed down from generation to generation, this was a highly significant and enjoyable experience as a Samoan student. This enabled us to not only amaze the young students but also to encourage the Pacifica students to embrace and be proud of their heritage.
A big thank you to our performers: Jas Magasiva, Moananui Wynyard, Gemma Uenuku, Luca Aporo, Marleyah Pritchard and Aysha Ireland. Plus, a huge thank you as well to Mrs. Swindells and Ms. Maletino for not only taking us, but for their continued work in the background for this event. The experience was incredibly memorable and one to cherish.
