BACKThis term the Year 11 and Year 13 Geography students have visited the field to learn about different cultural and natural environments that they are studying in class.
In August the Year 13 students undertook the annual geography trip to Rotorua to learn about tourism development both today and how this has developed over time. Students enjoyed visiting many of the well known tourist attractions such as the Redwoods Treewalk, Agrodome, Te Puia, and Velocity Valley. Back in class, students have been using the information they gathered to assist with their end of year exams.
The Year 11 students visited three of Auckland’s maunga to investigate the Auckland Volcanic Field. The day started off with a visit to Mangere Mountain where we looked at both the cultural and natural features of the volcano. Then students visited the Auckland Museum (built on the crater of Pukekawa) to gather information about the history of the volcanic field and how to best prepare for a future eruption. The final site was Pupuke Moana where students again learnt about both the cultural and natural features of the volcano.
