BACKOur debating teams have experienced many successes this term!
- Our Junior Debating Team qualified for the Auckland School’s Junior Debating Championships Grand Final, coming second out of 45 teams.
- Three teams were sent to the Impromptu Cup. Austin Picard and Joshua Wang performed brilliantly, winning the Novice Break Finals. Joshua was the top speaker of the break and Austin was the third-best speaker.
- In early September we beat the Westlake Premier Advanced Team and won the David Nottage Rotary Debate.
- Year 11 student Joshua Wang was Top Speaker in the Auckland Premium Junior Debating and the Impromptu Noice Debating.
In Term 3, there was also a students vs teachers debate. This was a fun lunchtime activity that the debating team hopes will become an ongoing tradition. It was great to see teachers competing against some of our top debaters in a discussion about homework. The arguments from both sides were well-balanced and researched, however, the teachers came away with the win!
