Trip prices range from $150 for a one-day surf trip to $3,800 for a full 15-day South Island tour. Our international staff are available to discuss travel options with students once they arrive in New Zealand and can help them make the most of their experience.
Parents are welcome to visit their child while they are studying in New Zealand. If needed, the International Office can provide an invitation letter to support the visit.
Student safety is very important to us. As part of the New Zealand Code of Practice, international students are not permitted to travel independently or with groups of friends during their stay. Students may only travel within New Zealand if they are with an approved tour company, their host family, on a school trip, with their parents, or have received special permission from the International Director at Rangitoto College.
Permission from the International Director
Any student who wishes to travel while in New Zealand must visit the International Office before their trip to obtain permission from the International Director.
Permission from parents
Parents must give written permission before their children are allowed to travel. This can be emailed to us.

Leave from School
If parents wish to take their child out of school for any reason other than illness, they must write to the Principal, Mr Patrick Gale, in advance to request approval. Only the Principal has the authority to grant approved leave from school.
Please note that only approved leave can be considered when allowances are needed for NCEA assessments. Email requests are not accepted, as NCEA regulations require an original signature from a parent or guardian.
