BACKOur Bouldering and Rock Climbing Club meets every Friday at lunchtime to organise group climbing sessions and share information on upcoming climbing competition events. It is through this club that students can sign up for and represent our kura at these climbing competitions.
The Auckland College Climbing Series (ACCS), organised by College Sport Auckland, consists of four rounds of bouldering and top roping competitions. The most recent was Round 2, a bouldering round held at Northern Rocks Climbing Gym. Being the largest ACCS round ever, this round saw over 200 climbers on the day from over 33 different schools across Auckland. Rangitoto College had four senior students compete from our club, with one of our club leaders, Jacob Irwin, making it into the Senior Boys Finals Round!
The Bouldering and Rock Climbing Club has just under 100 members, an incredible achievement for a relatively new club at Rangitoto College. With two more rounds of the Auckland College Climbing Series to go, we look forward to seeing more fantastic results from our club members.
