On October 18 we held our 2023 Rangitoto College Sports Awards. This event was held in the Auditorium with students, parents, staff, and other members of the Rangitoto College sports community.
It was a wonderful event where we were able to celebrate our outstanding sports students by recognizing regional and national achievements for our premier teams and Blue awards for individuals who have achieved at a regional level.
Blue with Distinction and New Zealand Secondary School awards were given out to Teams and individuals who have achieved nationally and we had 22 students recognized as New Zealand representatives.
The special awards and trophies were a real highlight of the evening, as was our guest speaker, freestyle Olympic skier, The Crowd Goes Wild reporter, and Rangitoto College alumna, Anna Wilcox.
Special mention must be made of the Premier Girls and Premier Boys Volleyball teams who won “Most Outstanding Moment” for their double gold win at the New Zealand Secondary School Volleyball Championship. The Premier Boys Volleyball team also won the “Team of the Year”.
The top spots of sportsman and sportswoman of the year went to team captain, MVP, and tournament team volleyball player, Ryan Jefferson, & Aquablack, record-breaking swimmer, Summer Osborne.
Thank you to all those who attended this event. To all our sports awards recipients and nominees, we are very proud of your achievements and contribution to Rangitoto College and look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the future.
