There is a Junior category for students who are in Year 11 and a Senior Open category for students who are in Years 12 to 13. Students who are part to the debating teams will prepare to compete in the National Spanish Debate Competition which is usually held in Term 2. If there is a high number of students wanting to participate, we will hold try outs to choose who will be on the team, as we can only have two teams per category. The winning school from the previous year will host the event. Being part of the Spanish Debating teams looks great on your student profile.
To be part of the Spanish debate team you are required to show up to practices which are held afterschool on either a Tuesday or Wednesday from 3:30pm- 5:00pm and commit to participating in the National debate competition. You are also required to spend some time outside of classes preparing responses for practise.
The Spanish Debating Competition is not open to Year 9 and Year 10 Junior Students. Rangitoto Summit Diploma is not applicable for Year 12 and Year 13 students. Participation will be captured in your student records.
